Some say the “Luck of the Irish” phrase’s origins was as an ethnic slur that started in the US when the Irish immigrated. When the Irish arrived, they were hated and persecuted; for their nationality and their religion (Catholicism). People who believe in this version of the phrase’s origin, believe the sarcastic phrase implied the Irish had no luck at all, or that any Irish successful man or woman had to be lucky rather than smart, hardworking, or talented.

OK, so this wasn’t such an upbeat postcard. Oh well. It is Friday the 13th. I’m entitled to have a dud post today of all days, lol.
This post bothered me. I decided to edit it so it’s not so ethically “charged” and negative sounding. I don’t normally write posts like that. Hope you don’t mind.
Perfect post for Friday the 13th. I had no idea that the phrase was meant that way.
It’s also International Lefties Day, so I could care less about the 13th thingy. And I have NO Irish blood in me whatsoever… ;o) I like the card, however!
I like the postcard. And Enya, too.
Glad you enjoyed the postcard. Enya?
Interesting history!
